Sarah + Chaise, Married | Utah Wedding Photography

On Friday I photographed a super fun wedding of Sarah and Chaise. Their colors were bright, their decorations were candy, and their personality was fun. They wore bright red Converse for their shoes...which is fantastic. I had so much fun, and they are so photogenic.

(If you couldn't tell, I REALLY liked her bouquet, so I took a lot of pictures with it. Such bright colors.)

This image is all cool and blurry because I discovered that a really cheap lens I have attaches really well to my prime lens, and even though I can't get it to be super sharp or in focus, it makes for a neat-o vignette and blur effect. I like it. Obviously it's not for everything, but it is fun.

All the centerpieces were candy!! How cool is that? And polka-dot table clothes? Love it.

That's right, cotton candy and churros and snow cones were all on the menu.

And, the wedding cake had gummy bears on it! And rock candy! And Twizzler rope! and Skittles! And bubble gum! And more!

I photographed the wedding with Jon Woodbury Photography. Jon is awesome. So much fun, and I have been an admirer of his work for as long as I've known him, which has been several years now.

And now, for the slide show:

Deena + Jeff + Cooper | Utah Family Photography

family portraits in Provo

I love photographing fun families! I've known Deena for a while now, as she and I were neighbors in an apartment complex some years ago. And now she has a cool, awesome family and I got to take the family pictures! Woohoo!

We took the pictures at Vivian Park in Provo Canyon. I have to say, as far as parks go for photography, it is one of my new favorites. There are all sorts of locations in one small little area. You've got a river, a railroad, walls, grass, play ground. Everything you need for the whole family!

I love taking portraits! It is one of my very favorite things about taking pictures. I love the smiles on people's faces, and getting their personalities from their eyes.

Their son Cooper is so smiley! The trick to getting him to smile was to make a really high-pitched "wee" sound, and then wave the hand that wasn't holding the camera. Worked like a charm every time, except when it didn't, but then Deena pulled out the fruit snacks. There were several fishermen in the area, and they politely ignored my goofiness.

Sara | Utah Bridal Photography

I'm just going to admit right now that photographing dancers is one of my favorites, because like actors, they are so comfortable in front of a camera and they know how to pose to make different moods.

These bridal portraits are of my friend, Sara, aka Sunshine, who was going for a hippie look. And what better place to do that than out in nature, and what better nature than Bryce Canyon? Enjoy the photographs!

My favorite thing about this simple dress are all the colorful highlights that Sara adds to it, depending on the look she wants. Such simple changes as the type and color of a highlight material, and you get a completely different outfit!

Robbins Preview | Utah Family Photographer

Yesterday evening I photographed a super awesome and adorable family, the Robbins. Deena and Jeff and their toddler, Cooper. Cooper was so cool. As you can see.

I just want to say that I love railroad tracks. When Jeff and Deena and I were trying to decide where to do the photos, and they said they wanted a park...I knew I wanted to go to Vivian Park, where there are tracks and water and playground and everything. Such a perfect location for family photos.

Or even just ones of the couple.

Festival of Colors, Throwing of the Colors | Utah Event Photographer

Every year in Spanish Fork, Utah (close to Provo) the Hare Krishna Temple hosts the Holi Festival, also known as the Festival of Colors. This is the third instalement of the pictures I took there as part of the JarvieU photographers group.

The theme for this post is the throwing of colors. It is like being in a uber-colorful dust storm. When the colors are in black and white it looks less like a festival and more like a disaster. I love it. One of my favorite events every year.

There were two times for the throwing of colors, allowing me to get two different view points. Fantastic.

Little Brother | Provo Portrait Photographer

This is my little brother, Andrew. I called you Little Brother. He's the best little brother EVER (other than me, of course). He is a fantastic cook. I am not exaggerating when I say that he makes the second best cheesecake I have ever had. And since the other really good cheesecake can only be purchased in New York and is super expensive to ship, Little Brother's Cheesecake might as well be the best.

The light was AWESOME! (That is why we were taking pictures. I couldn't let the light go to waste. I had to drag Andrew out to shoot with me.) Here are some pictures of the amazing spring sunlight and surrounds.

Mt. Timpanogos was looking mighty pretty that morning. I love living in Provo. The mountains are just always awesome. Mountains are one of the things I missed most the two times I have lived on the East Coast.
